Dr. Aline De Vleminck in New York
Postdoc researcher Aline De Vleminck was selected for a Fulbright Scholarship Award to perform research at the National Palliative Care Research Center, located at Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinaï Hospital in New York City. This Fulbright Scholarship provides her with a unique opportunity to gain research experience abroad and work with one of the leading researchers in the field of palliative care, prof. dr. Sean Morrison. She was granted by the Fulbright Scholar Program to conduct a study on identifying and comparing the structural factors influencing access to specialist inpatient palliative care between Europe and the US. To obtain this goal, she is performing a deductive analysis of qualitative semi-structured interviews that have been collected as part of the multi-center International Access, Rights and Empowerment (IARE) study. The IARE study is exploring the components influencing access to hospital specialist palliative care in London, Dublin, San Francisco and New York City.
